Jul 08, 2022
Jul 11, 2022
$219

Join Sac City Scuba at Lake Tahoe July 7-10, for a fun long weekend of diving.  Over 4 days we will be diving several locations along the west coast of the lake, including the one-of-a-kind Underwater Maritime Heritage Trail in Emerald Bay.  Divers have opportunities to complete the 5 dives required for the PADI Advanced Open Water course (Can be done Saturday and Sunday if that's all the time you have) as well as other specialty and adventure dives Friday and Monday.

$199 is for Saturday afternoon Altitude Diving Course. You may add other adventure dives/specialty course dives as desired.

Sample Long Weekend Itinerary Subject to change:

Friday: Hurricane Bay. Sunken Sailboat Ally-Cat, Geo-cache site and Project Baseline /UC Davis visibility observation station + one more site TBD.

Saturday all day: Altitude and Advanced Open Water Course Meeks bay 1pm-6pm.

Saturday Night: Night Dive William Kent Beach/National Forest Campground. (Where we are camping)

Sunday PM: Advanced Course: Boat dive in Emerald Bay Underwater Maritime Heritage trail, sunken barges and hard chine skiff + Rubicon Wall. (Limited capacity)

Monday: AM D.L. Bliss State Park: Calawee Beach Rubicon Wall.

Lake Tahoe is cold water diving. It can be completed in the same wetsuit as one would dive in Monterey. Drysuits are also popular.  Surface temps can be up to 75° in the summer, but don't let that fool you. Lake Tahoe has incredible thermoclines. At depth the water will be easily as cold as Monterey, or colder.

Since there is no way out of Lake Tahoe without crossing a pass, going to altitude after diving rules apply. Students are prohibited from leaving the Tahoe basin for a minimum of 6 hours after surfacing from their last dive.

Gear is not included but available at a student discount of $89. (Normally $120) Click Here.

The dive trip you have been waiting for. 7 dives over 3 days on our own chartered boat. Dive on the 360' long sunken battleship HMCS Yukon, the coast guard cutter Ruby E, and earn your PADI Wreck Diving certification. (You pay only materials and PADI fee.) Optional accommodations at shared AirBNB for additional fee.  You're going to love this!

$599

TRIP INCLUDES:

  • Seven boat dives and one optional guided beach dive at La Jolla Cove
  • One three dive day on wrecks HMS Yukon and Ruby E
  • One two dive day on kelp beds.
  • One two dive day on ancient cliffs and HMS Yukon
  • Free Wreck or Deep specialty Course (minus academic materials and PADI fee)
  • Free buoyancy practice/pool refresher prior to the trip.]

Note: This is not a beginner diving, but it is well within recreational diving limits. The shallowest part of the HMS Yukon wreck is 60ft. The shallowest part of the Ruby E is 50 ft. Divers need to have excellent buoyancy control, good air consumption, and be either advanced open water certified or above or have recent cold water diving experience or take a pool refresher course with 7mm wetsuit, hood and gloves which we are offering for free as part of the wreck diving specialty.

No altitude after diving:

All divers must wait a minimum of 18 hours, (or whatever their computer tells them) before flying or driving to altitude (e.g. Grapevine on I-5 4100' or San Marcos Pass Rt 156 at 2224'). If you drive home Sunday after diving you must take 101 up the coast to San Luis Obispo before heading east. It adds approximately 1 hour to Sacramento but is a beautiful drive.
