Lake Tahoe Altitude Diving Specialty Course

Jul 18, 2020
Jul 20, 2020
$175

Join Sac City Scuba for camping and diving at D.L. Bliss State Park on July 17th through 19th, 2020. Included but optional are 3 nights camping (Thursday, Friday and Saturday night,) all academics sessions, and at a minimum two training dives in Lake Tahoe. Upon completion of the training dives, participants will receive a PADI Altitude Diving Specialty Course certification card. Students must complete the altitude diving knowledge reviews in PADI Advanced Open Water Manual before the dive day. (Manual is extra.)

Gear is not included but available at a student discount of $75. (Normally $110)

Lake Tahoe is cold water diving. It can be completed in the same wetsuit as one would dive in Monterey. Drysuits are also popular.  Surface temps can be up to 75° in the summer, but don't let that fool you. Lake Tahoe has incredible thermoclines. At depth the water will be easily as cold as Monterey, or colder.

Divers must arrive no later than Friday afternoon for Saturday diving in order to acclimate to altitude.

Since there is no way out of Lake Tahoe without crossing a pass, flying after diving rules apply. Students are prohibited from leaving the valley for a minimum of 6 hours after surfacing from their last dive.

Channel Islands 3-day Trip

Oct 29, 2020
Oct 31, 2020
$649

Join us on  the MV Truth for three full days of diving the Northern Channel Islands! These waters teem with life due to the temperate nutrient-rich waters, making every dive a new experience and ideal for lobster hunters and photographers alike. Dive locations vary from hundred-foot-tall walls and enormous pinnacles to kelp forests and rocky reefs of Santa Barbara Island.  We aim for 3-4 dives the first and second day and 3 dives on the last day, with the opportunity for a night dive each night (weather permitting).

3-Day trips to the Northern Channel Islands are geared toward skill levels ranging from newly certified divers to experienced divers and is also recommended for divers looking to get back into the water after a break from diving. Dives will take place in locations with less challenging conditions that allow for a fun, relaxing experience and to hone your dive skills. The dive sites are typically more sheltered and under 50 feet in depth. If you are ready for a less rigorous but adventurous getaway, this is a great trip for you. It's like diving Monterey and Carmel, but clearer and warmer!

Boarding is between 6pm and 4am Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Boat leaves promptly at 4am Thursday and returns Saturday evening around 6pm. All meals included.

Snorkeling and kayaking available for non divers.

Advanced open water courses and specialty courses are offered on this trip for an additional fee.
